Association Najdeh

The Association Najdeh (AN) (Arabic جمعية النجدة الاجتماعية, English association = association, Arabic Najdeh = Help ) is a non-governmental organization ( NGO, NRG, NGO) which operates in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon and their environment. She fights against the discrimination of Palestinian women and participates in campaigns for the right to work in Lebanon as well as the right of return of Palestinians to Palestine.

History

The Association Najdeh was founded in 1976 by an independent group of Lebanese men and women. It aims to ensure an income for Palestinian refugees, especially women, after the transfer to the refugee camp of Tel - za'atar. An embroidery workshop was opened and created, as well as a nursery and other jobs, earning potential. Finally, the Association was registered as a social Najdeh independent Lebanese non-governmental organization (NGO) in 1978 at the Home Office, based in Beirut.

Between 2005 and 2006, the Association Najdeh developed codes of conduct to strengthen the role of social institutions. It opposed the introduction of an Islamic constitution in 2006, the camp Burj al - Barajneh. Objectives and Methodology

The main purpose of the Association Najdeh is the empowerment of women in Palestinian society, which it regards as Palestinian refugees the most disadvantaged. Improving its position in Palestinian society also affects their economic, social and educational role.

Organization

The General Assembly of the Association Najdeh selects a secretariat; this determines the members of the Executive Committee. The General Assembly consists of 70 percent women and 30 percent men. At the beginning it consisted of six women. The staff of Najdeh consists mainly of Palestinian refugee women. 80 percent of beneficiaries are Palestinians, the remaining 20 percent are men and members of other nationalities.

Najdeh operates in 26 locations in and around refugee camps. The programs focus on women and include: training programs, educational programs, parent -child programs, programs for social affairs, domestic violence projects, micro- credit and the embroidery. Najdeh promotes the rights of the Palestinians by raising awareness about the health of children, the rights of women and children. Najdeh reached over 10,000 refugees in all camps, including camp Burj El- Barajneh, Nahr al- Bared and Shatila.

The Association Najdeh the vision of a Palestinian community on the basis of national rights and human rights, a social justice and equality between women and men. Since August 2009 she has been a member of the Humanitarian Accountability Partnership International (HAP International) and represents the values ​​of transparency and accountability.

Financing

As regards the financing play donations mainly from donor organizations and individuals from Europe, the USA and Canada a major role. Other sources of income are surplus from the production of embroidery, duties of students in training and fees for the " women and children " programs.
