Atanas Tarev

Atanas Tarew ( Bulgarian Атанас Търев, English transcription Atanas Tarev, . Born January 31, 1958 in Boliarsi, Oblast Plovdiv ) is a former Bulgarian pole vaulter.

In 1980 he retired from in qualifying at the Olympic Games in Moscow. At the European Championships in 1982 in Athens and at the World Athletics Championships 1983 in Helsinki, he won the bronze medal. In the Indoor Athletics Championships followed bronze in 1985 in Athens gold in 1986 in Madrid.

In the summer of 1986, he finished fourth at the European Championships in Stuttgart, and in 1987 he finished sixth at the World Indoor Championships in Indianapolis and eighth at the World Championships in Rome.

In 1988 he again won bronze at the European Indoor Championships in Budapest, but did not at the Olympic Games in Seoul on the first round also.

Twelve times he was outdoors (1976-1986, 1988) and four times in the Hall (1979, 1981-1983) national champion.
