Athari

The Athariyya (Arabic الأثرية, DMG al - Aṯarīya ) is a theological school of Sunni, which is later mostly represented by Hanbali, the followers of one of the four currently dominant schools of law.

" Athariyya " comes from the word " Athar ", which in this context means " tradition / reports of the righteous Muslims of the first generations." The term goes back to Ahmad ibn Hanbal and Ibn Qudama.

An important commonality between the faith theologies ( Maturidi and Ash'ari ) on one side and the Athari on other side consist in how to deal with the verses in the Koran in which God describes (Allah) seemingly with human characteristics ( attributes), as the hand ( Yad ), that " raising himself to the throne " (al- istiwa ) or seeing (al- basar ).

Together, all approved positions that you allow any meanings in the interpretation that God give tangible or material properties. In the Athariyya it is not allowed to say that his vision, his hand, his is " be - collection " biologically -human nature. However, while the school of Ascharits and Maturidis hold a Tawil, a preference for one of several possibilities without categorical conclusion or evidence of possible reject the Atharis from this.

The main difference in the methodology of Atharis on this issue is to avoid extensive theological research on the attributes of the Creator, which are in the Quran. They believe in God, in his name and on its properties (attributes ), as they are described in the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Neither Tahrif ( disfigurement ), ta'wil ( figurative or metaphorical interpretation), Tamthil ( comparison of the attributes of God with creation ), Taschbih, ( to give Allah attributes, which are similar to the material creation, see Tamthil ) nor Ta'til ( denial of attributes) are accepted.

Until the early 19th century, the three Sunni schools of theology ( Ashari, Maturidi and Athari ) accepted as legitimate among themselves. This is also evident from the Lawami al - Anwar of Imam Al- Saffarini (d. 1188 ), by designating all three groups as " Ahl al-Sunnah " ( followers of the tradition).

Unlike the user avoid the Kalam the Athari take it to the only rational discussion of matters of faith. As one of the most famous representatives of the Athari applies the Ibn Taymiyah Hanbalite. His work Al- Aqeedah Al- Waasitiyyah provides up today as one of the most important of the Athari.

When the Prophet parent problem the Athari occupy the same opinion as the Maturidiyyah the prophets parents had died as disbelievers. On the question of " Marifetullah " (God's existence) they take the view of the Maturidiyyah, but verweißen on a defused view of their hand.
