Athena Painter

The Athena Painter was a black-figure Attic vase painter, active around 490-460 BCE in Athens. His specialty was white Lekythoi, which he painted blackfigure.

The Athena Painter led as well as the Theseus Painter painting the large Standardlekythen in the tradition of the Edinburgh Painter continued. He led added several small changes that should be canonically according to him, tendrils with closed buds on the shoulder palmette or some of his vessels he uncovered the vessel necks black.
