Atlantic City Line

The Atlantic City Line is a railway line for passenger transport between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Atlantic City on the Atlantic coast of New Jersey. It is operated by the New Jersey Transit and exists in its present form since 1989.

The trains in Philadelphia from the 30th Street station first across the North - East corridor to the north. At the Frankford Junction in the north of the city, they turn towards the east, cross on the Delair Bridge the Delaware and thus reach the territory of New Jersey. There it goes, with a stop in Cherry Hill, at some distance north to Camden around. Shortly before the Haddonfield PATCO Speedline tracks of can be achieved. On this route there is initially no stops along until its terminus Lindenwold, where a transfer possibility exists. From there, the trains continue towards the southeast and reach after stops in Atco, Hammonton, Egg Harbor City and Absecon Atlantic City eventually.

On the Atlantic City Line operate passenger 14 pairs of trains daily. The trains consist of Comet IV car and are pulled by EMD GP40 -2 diesel locomotives. The travel time from the 30th Street Station to Atlantic City is about one and a half hours.

The route is not electrified beyond the North East Corridor.
