Atlético San Cristóbal was a Venezuelan football club from San Cristóbal. The club was founded in 1980, disbanded in 1986 and was its home games at the Estadio Poli Deportivo de Pueblo Nuevo, which now accommodates 42,000 spectators. History

The Club Atlético San Cristóbal was founded in 1980 in San Cristóbal in the Venezuelan state of Táchira in the west of the country. In the second year after the foundation of the association were abolished by a first rank in the Segunda División second-rate jump in the Primera División, the highest league in the Venezuelan football. There Atlético San Cristóbal could keep up quickly and was promoted in 1982 as a football champion of Venezuela. The first rank with a point ahead of Deportivo Táchira and Universidad de Los Andes FC was occupied and thus made the first and only championship in their history in the top league. This San Cristóbal was allowed to start for the Copa Libertadores 1983. In the tournament, the first place in the group of four before El Nacional and Barcelona SC Guayaquil Ecuador as well as the league and city rivals Deportivo Táchira was occupied in the first group stage, yielding in the second group phase, which in those days was the semi-finals moved. There, however, the team of Atlético San Cristóbal had no chance against Peñarol and Nacional Montevideo.

Atlético San Cristóbal played until 1985 in La Liga, but without once again become champion. In said year, the club announced the merger with Deportivo Táchira known to establish the new club Unión Atlético Táchira. After the completion of the merger Atlético San Cristóbal in 1986 was removed from the register of associations. The new club was under its former name until 1996, before the return naming Deportivo Táchira was.
