ATRAC3plus

Atrac3plus is the successor of the audio codec ATRAC. Technically, the codec uses a subband coding and a modified discrete cosine transform ( MDCT ) with 16 sub-bands. The volume and frequency of the blended clay are constantly adapted to the auditory characteristic.

Data rates in the range of 48 kbit / s to 352 kbit / s are possible and in Hi- MD recorders, HDD players, flash memory players and other ATRAC -compatible CD players are used. ATRAC as a predecessor of Atrac3plus was developed in 1991 by Sony for the MiniDisc. In 2003 followed the developments ATRAC3 and ATRAC3plus.
