Attlebridge

Attlebridge is a village and civil parish in Norfolk. It is approximately 13 kilometers north-west of Norwich, where the A1067 crosses the River Wensum.

The village is spread over an area of ​​about 5.27 km ² and according to the census of 2001 the population was 122, which was distributed to 50 households. Attlebridge is located in the District of Broadland.

History

The village was named after the bishop Ætla and a nearby bridge, which he is said to have built with. Between the 1880s and 1950s, the community had its own railway station called Attlebridge Railway Station, which allowed a direct connection of trains between Norwich and Kings Lynn. For cost reasons, but the station was decommissioned by British Rail.

During the Second World War was a nearby airfield called RAF Attlebridge, used by the Allies.
