Audata

Eurydice (original name Audata ) was in the 4th century BC, living genteel Illyrerin, probably daughter or granddaughter of Bardylis. It was the first or second wife of Macedon Philip II

The Illyrians were in the first half of the 4th century BC a mighty empire, which was a threat to Macedonia. Multiple Illyrian tribes had invaded Macedonia and Perdiccas III. , The elder brother of Philip II, was like 360/359 BC in the battle against Bardylis. Soon after Philip II took control and it was first negotiated a settlement with Bardylis. As a result, he married the Illyrian princess Audata who took the name Eurydice after her wedding. This name change was done well for dynastic reasons, as it was briefly Philipps chief consort. Surprising but the Macedon king had consolidated his power so far that he could defeat Bardylis in a battle decisively ( 358 BC). Soon after, Olympias was his principal wife.

Eurydice bore Philip II Kynane a daughter, whose daughter Adea also took the name Eurydice.
