Audley Shaw

Audley Shaw ( born June 13, 1952 in Christiana, Manchester Parish ) is a Jamaican politician ( JLP ). He was from 2007 to early 2012, Finance Minister (Minister of Finance and the Public Service ) of Jamaica.

Life

Shaw attended Knox College and Holmwood Technical High School in North East Manchester. After that he studied in the United States at Northern Illinois University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Master of Arts in Marketing, Finance and Public Relations. From 1983 to 1986 he served as Director of Public Relations and Advertising at the Jamaica National Investment Promotions Limited ( JNIP ) operates.

Policy

Shaw was temporarily Secretary-General (General Secretary ) of the Jamaica Labour Party ( JLP ) and is since 1999 Deputy Party Chairman ( Deputy Leader ).

In 1989, Shaw was appointed on the proposal of the opposition leader Edward Seaga senator. Since 1993 he represents the constituency of North East Manchester in the House of Representatives. He could decide on a case for the JLP constituency also in the 1997, 2002, 2007 and 2011 elections. In the parliamentary elections on September 3, 2007, the JLP won the majority and formed the new government. Shaw, who was previously financial spokesman of the opposition, was appointed Minister of Finance and sworn in on 14 September 2007. He was minister until January 6, 2012 January 19, 2012, he is again financial spokesman of the opposition.
