August Klostermann

August Klostermann ( born May 16, 1837 in Steinhude, † February 11, 1915 in Kiel ) was a German Protestant theologian and university lecturer.

Life

August Klostermann studied 1855-58 at the Friedrich -Alexander- University of Erlangen and the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Berlin. In 1855 he joined the Erlanger, later Kiel and Berlin Wingolf.

He was in the spring of 1859 teachers in Biickeburg and was five years later Repetent. As such, he accepted an appointment as a lecturer in theology at the Georg-August -Universität Göttingen. In 1868, he moved in the same subject as a full professor at the Christian -Albrechts- University of Kiel. 1885/86 and 1898/99 he was its rector. His Rectorate speech on March 5, 1885 dealt with the fear of God as the main piece of wisdom.
