August Wagenmann

August Emil Ludwig cars Mann ( born April 5, 1863 in Göttingen; † August 12, 1955 in Heidelberg ) was a German ophthalmologist.

Life

August car man, son of Ordinary Professor of Theology at the University of Göttingen Julius August car man, graduated in medicine at the universities of Göttingen and Munich. Subsequently, he accepted a job as assistant at Göttingen University Eye Clinic, which was headed by Theodor Leber. In 1888 he qualified as a lecturer in ophthalmology, two years later, he followed his teacher Theodor Leber to the University of Heidelberg.

In 1892 he accepted an appointment to the chair of ophthalmology at the University of Jena, where he remained until 1910. In the same year took over the Privy Councilor appointed car man in the footsteps of Theodor Leber professorship and head of the clinic in Heidelberg, after he had previously rejected calls to Erlangen and Strasbourg. In 1935 he became Professor Emeritus. A year later cars man was honored with the honorary membership of the German Ophthalmological Society.

August car man - the author of numerous scientific papers, especially in the field of pathological anatomy - received for his experimental work on circulation disorders in the choroid and retinal vessels, the jobs created in memory of Albrecht von Graefe Von Graefe Prize.
