August Wilhelm Hupel

August Wilhelm Hupel (* February 25, 1737 in Buttelstedt, .. † 6 Januarjul / January 18 1819greg in Paid ( White Stone ) ) was deutschbaltischer pastor in Põltsamaa ( Oberpahlen ) and important literary figure in Livonia of the Age of Enlightenment.

Hupel was born into a pastor's family. He first visited the Wilhelm -Ernst -Gymnasium in Weimar and then the University of Jena. Since 1757 he lived in Livonia, where he was pastor in 1764 in Põltsamaa. Since 1804 he lived in Paid.
