Augusta Dorothea of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel

Auguste Dorothea of Brunswick- Wolfenbüttel ( born December 16, 1666 Wolfenbüttel; † July 11, 1751 at Castle Augustenburg at Arnstadt ), was a daughter of Duke Anton Ulrich of Brunswick- Wolfenbüttel and his wife Juliane von Holstein - Norburg.

Life

Auguste Dorothea married on August 7, 1684 in Wolfenbüttel Count Anton Günther II of Schwarzburg- Sondershausen. This 1697 Imperial Prince and resided in Arnstadt. She got from her husband a piece of land on which they had built the castle August to 1710 in 1699. There you put on a great collection in which objects were made ​​of porcelain, paintings, jewelery and other handicraft products. When her Graf Anton Günther died in 1716 she spent her widowhood (35 years) in order to create on the now-defunct Augustenburg along with her ​​ladies the famous puppet cabinet "Mon Plaisir ". Auguste Dorothea invested in nearly fifty years of their assets in this collection, especially in the furnishing of "Mon Paisir " and has left large debts in 1751 when she died. She was buried in the church in the Ursuline convent of Erfurt.
