Auguste Delacroix

Auguste Delacroix ( born January 27, 1809 in Boulogne -sur -Mer, † November 13, 1868 ) was a French genre and landscape and marine painter. He also left watercolors and drawings. A part of his work is attributable to the Orientalism.

Life

Delacroix participated in the years 1835 to 1865 regularly at the Paris Salon. From about 1865 he lived in Italy. His favorite subjects were the coasts of Brittany and North Africa. In his genre paintings he exhibited rural idyll and North African scenes of everyday life dar. In the last years of his life he worked for a right-sided paralysis with the left hand.
