Augustin-Norbert Morin

Augustin- Norbert Morin ( born October 13, 1803 in Saint -Michel, Quebec, † July 27, 1865 ) was a Canadian lawyer, judge and politician.

Life

Augustin- Norbert Morin was born in Saint -Michel in a large Catholic family of peasants and very soon discovered by the priest as a very gifted and talented. This enabled him in 1815 to visit the Séminaire de Québec. After the end of the seminar Morin worked as a newspaper vendor to allow the right science studies as an employee of Denis- Benjamin Viger. In 1828 he started his own business and two years later he began to get involved in politics.

On October 28, 1851, he eventually became Premier of Eastern Canada and held this position until 27 January 1855. Morin Heights, a city in the province of Quebec, and Val -Morin were named after him.
