Augustus Desiré Waller

Augustus Desiré Waller ( born July 18, 1856 in Paris, † March 11, 1922 in London ) was an English physiologist.

The son of Augustus Volney Waller studied medicine in Aberdeen and Edinburgh. After receiving his doctorate in 1881 in Edinburgh, he worked at John Scott Burdon - Sanderson ( 1828-1905 ) at University College London.

Augustus Desiré Waller 1887 for the first time recorded an electrocardiogram using a capillary electrometer. His work was later continued by Willem Einthoven, which further improved the instruments.

In 1903 he became a professor of physiology at the University of London.
