Augustus Volney Waller

Augustus Volney Waller ( born December 21, 1816 in Elverton Farm in Faversham, Kent, † September 18, 1870 in Geneva ) was an English neurophysiologist. His son Augustus Desiré Waller (1856-1922) was also a physiologist.

Waller studied medicine in Paris. He has worked in Bonn, before he moved to the laboratory of Marie Jean Pierre Flourens 1856. From 1858 to 1868 he was Professor of Physiology at Queen 's College, Birmingham.

In 1850 he first described the Wallerian degeneration.

Waller was a member ( "Fellow" ) elected in 1851 to the Royal Society, in 1860, the Royal Medal awarded him.
