Augustus Radcliffe Grote

Augustus Radcliffe Grote (* 1841 in Liverpool, † 1903 in Hildesheim ) was a renowned American entomologist and particularly active as Butterfly researchers.

Biography

Grote explored, discovered and named mainly moths in North America, especially in the U.S., Mexico and Cuba. According to him, the butterfly Cautethia grotei was named ( " Grote Sphinx" ). Grote was married and the father of Louis Ruyter Radcliffe Grote.
