Auki

Province

Auki is the provincial capital of Malaita Province of Solomon. It lies at the northern end of the lagoon and thus Langalanga the north -west coast of the island of Malaita. There are daily flights between the capital, Honiara (on Guadalcanal ) and Auki instead. It also give a ferry service between the two cities.

Auki has electricity and the road to the airport is paved ( about 11 km). In the market the resort, on the main quay, fruits, vegetables and fresh fish is sold daily.

The responsible Member of the Parliament for Auki Langalanga, Matthew Cooper whales, was elected in 2010. He was previously Minister of Education and Human Development in the previous government and is currently Vice-Chairman of the opposition. The fifth Anglican Bishop of Malaita, Sam Sahu, has his diocese office in Auki. He managed from Malaita 42 municipalities.

In addition, the place with the Auki Correctional Centre has services operated by Correctional Services of Solomon Islands prison. It was built in 2009 and can accommodate up to 60 prisoners. It also includes a special section for women and youth.
