Aulikki Rautawaara

Aulikki Rautawaara [ ɑu̯lik ː i ː rɑu̯tɑvɑ rɑ ] ( born 2 May 1906 in Vaasa, † December 29, 1990 in Helsinki) was a Finnish soprano.

Aulikki Rautawaara was born in 1906 in Vaasa, Finland. After she had to give up her piano training due to a hand injury, made ​​her voice out first with her father, a singing teacher in Helsinki, and later in Berlin. She made her debut in 1932 at the Opera House in Helsinki. This was followed by numerous guest appearances at festivals in Glyndebourne, Salzburg, Vienna, Berlin, Munich and Amsterdam, often as Mozartinterpretin. Aulikki Rautawaara sang at the Royal Opera in Stockholm and took on roles in operettas and musical films. In Germany she played in 1934 in the comedy " Everything is at my command ."

End of the 40s Aulikki Rautawaara occurred at the festivals in Edinburgh and in Visby. At that time you had already established himself as an interpreter of Scandinavian songs (Jean Sibelius).

After the end of her career as a singer Aulikki Rautawaara worked as a singing teacher in Helsinki. Here she died in 1990.
