The exterior bears beard Kogel ( Italian: Cima d' Orsa Barba di Fuori ) is a 3473 meter high mountain at the north end of the plan splitting mountains in the southern Ötztal Alps, located in the Italian Autonomous Province of Bolzano -Alto Adige. The north side of the mountain is covered briefly below the peak point of snow and ice to the southern flank falls steeply into the ice and upper Matscher valley. The first ascent took place, according to the literature, only in September 1909 held by Fridolin Hohenleitner and Josef Plattner. The adjacent white ball, however, was committed in 1861 for the first time.

Environment

The north south running chain of the plan splitting mountains meets the Bärenbartjoch on the southwest -northeast oriented white comb. The exterior bears beard Kogel forms the northernmost peak of this group, the higher interior bear beard Kogel, however, already belongs to the white crest. The exterior bears beard Kogel is surrounded on the west, north and southeast of glaciers. To the west and north of the 50 ° inclined to the free Brunner is located in the southeast addition and a less sloping snowfield of Matscher Ferner. Neighboring mountains are in the east, separated by the location on 3292 meters height Bärenbartjoch, the 3557 meter high interior bear beard Kogel and the white ball with 3739 meters of altitude. The mountain is located about 14 kilometers in a straight line north-east of mud (Italian: Mazia ) in Matscher valley and a good 15 kilometers southwest of Vent, in the municipality of Sölden in Austria's Tyrolean Ötztal.

Bases and committing

The exterior bears beard Kogel is committed usually from the north. As a base, the white ball hut ( Rifugio Pio XI alla Palla Bianca ) is used on 2544 meters above sea level. Another variation is the ascent from the valley Matscher in the Bärenbartjoch. About the sandy moraine at the end of Matscher valley go up a small gap in the rock wall up to the Bärenbartjoch.
