Australian Broadcasting Corporation

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation ( ABC) is a public- broadcasting company in Australia, which operates several television (including ABC1, ABC2, ABC3 and ABC News 24 ) and radio stations ( Radio Australia, Triple J ).

History

The company was first founded as a private radio station under the name Australian Broadcasting Company in 1929 and taken over in 1932 by the Australian government. 1956 began with the broadcast of a television program.

Australia Network

In December 2011, the Australian government decided to let operate the international television service Australia Network permanently by the public broadcaster ABC. At the previous complicated and controversial bidding process in addition to the ABC and Sky News had been involved.
