Australian Defence Force Academy

The Australian Defence Force Academy ( ADFA ) is a military academy in Australia. It is located in the capital Canberra in the Campbell area. It provides aspiring officers of the Australian Defence Force ( ADF) (consisting of the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Army and the Royal Australian Air Force) militarily and academically. It also offers postgraduate courses for civilians, more senior ADF personnel and government employees. The ADFA is connected with the University of New South Wales, which supports the academic responsibility. Graduates of ADFA received the rank of Officer Cadet ( Army and Air Force ) or a midshipman ( naval ).

1977, the Australian government decided to close the academies of the individual branches of service, and these combine to ADFA. 1981, a cooperation agreement with the University of New South Wales was signed. The opening of the ADFA was made in 1986.
