Auvere

Auvere ( German dock) is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Vaivara ( Vaivara vald ). It is located in Ida -Viru county (East Wierland ) in northeastern Estonia.

Description and History

The village has 22 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2012). The place was first mentioned in documents in 1361.

The first village school was founded in 1864. 1872 was inaugurated with the completion of the railway line from Tallinn to Saint Petersburg Train Station Auvere. He was dressed in Tsarist period the name Korf ( станция Корф ). In 1980 the historic station building was demolished and replaced by a new one.

In the 1960s, a powerhouse was built in Auvere, which began full operation in 1973. It worked with the present in the oil shale region. On May 4, 2012, the cornerstone was laid for the latest oil shale power plant.

Battle of Auvere

At the end of the Second World War heavy fighting between the German Wehrmacht and the Red Army took place at Auvere. From February to July 1944 was the front here. Sons and daughters of the town

The most famous son of the town was the surveyor and astronomer Carl Friedrich Tenner, who was born 1783 in Auvere the son of the estate manager.
