Avernum (series)

Avernum is a six-part series of computer role-playing games for Macintosh and Windows computers, which are characterized by epic stories. They are sold by Spiderweb software online, to any part of a demo version is available, which contains about a third of playing time of the full version. The first three parts are a remake of the Exile trilogy, also from developer Jeff Vogel. Action

The series begins with a show created by the player group from the "Empire" - the only ruling power on the surface - is banished through a magical portal to Avernum. In the course of the story, the player enters the service of the local leader of the people, looking for a way back to the surface and killed the Emperor.

Five years later, the Empire against Avernum tries to act and meets the " Vahnatai ", the indigenous people of Avernum, which were in a deep sleep. They steal these precious crystals, for which the Vahnatai make the residents Avernums responsible. The player-controlled group shall contact them and gives, after which the two parties unite against the Empire and expel it from the caves.

After another four years of careful preparation decide the inhabitants Avernums to send patrols to the surface. Once there, they discover that the Empire was weakened by plagues and dark powers. Gameplay

At the beginning of each game, the player creates a group of up to six characters, only the selection of races from Avernum 2 has this effect on dialogs.

Similarly, Ultima 8, the game is controlled entirely from an isometric perspective, time passes only when an action is performed. Once the player encounters hostile beings, is changed into a turn-based combat mode.
