Aviacsa

Aviacsa ( Consorcio Aviaxsa, SA de CV) was a Mexican airline based in Monterrey.

History

Aviacsa was founded on 5 May 1990 by the Government of the State of Chiapas, in order to supply the fast-growing cities in the state with a connection to the aviation sector. The first flight took place on 20 September 1990 with a BAe 146. It was flown from Mexico City to Tapachula and Tuxtla Gutiérrez. By the end of the year a second BAe 146 was put into service and flights to Villahermosa, Mérida, Oaxaca de Juárez, Chetumal and Cancun were taken.

In 1991, the BAe 146 fleet was replaced by four Fokker 100, each with 108 seats. With these new aircraft, the Aviacsa was able to condense the route network even further. Between 1992 and 1995 hub were set in Mérida and Tuxtla Gutiérrez.

In 1994, the Fokker F100 fleet was replaced again and there were four Boeing 727-200 purchased, each with 164 seats. The airline has been renowned in the charter business, for which the Fokker F100 temporarily were used. The company was privatized and sold to Aerojecutivo, also known under the name Aeroexo, a charter company in Monterrey.

1997, two Douglas DC -9- 15 were leased with which it was possible to increase frequencies on existing routes. It was announced that 1020 charter flights to Mexico, the United States, the Caribbean, Central America and South America were carried out in the three years in the charter business. In December 1999, the airline bought to expand its fleet of four Boeing 737-200.

Between 2000 and 2005, the little fleet was used to new flights and destinations in Mexico, as well as scheduled flights to operate in five U.S. cities. 2000, the corporate identity of the company was changed. Between 2001 and 2004, the airlines began to lease cars with Boeing 737-200 and to purchase capacity on the existing lines to increase. In 2005, the airline also began their tickets for sale online.

After the Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil, the Aviacasa was the third largest Mexican airline 2007.

The end of 2009 Aviacsa went bankrupt and all flights were terminated. More than 4000 employees throughout Mexico were unemployed.
