Avon River (Gloucester)

River Avon at Stratford

The Avon River is a river in the east of the Australian state of New South Wales.

Geography

The river rises in the foothills of the Barrington Tops and feeds in the spring from snowmelt. It flows through undulating hills through the settlement, ' Stratford '' and finally reaches the city of Gloucester, where it flows into the Gloucester River.

The Gloucester County is indeed in the summer months often incredibly hot, but it also falls an average annual rainfall of 1270 mm. If large amounts of rain run off into waterways, this often leads to flooding in the Avon Valley to Gloucester, which sometimes interrupt all transport links.
