Avoriaz

Avoriaz is a 1966 eröffneter winter on the territory of the municipality Morzine in the Haute -Savoie in the French Alps on the border with Switzerland.

Establishment and equipment

Avoriaz was built in the 1960s on a mountain pasture and has conceived as a tourist destination is not the old village. The village lies on an altitude of 1,800 m and is car-free. The ski resort has 39 ski lifts and 49 slopes ( 6 black, 14 red, 24 blue and 5 green ) with a total length of 73 km. Avoriaz is part of the Portes du Soleil, which has slopes of a total of 650 km in length. There are transitions with ski lifts in Val -d'Illiez - Planachaux over the Pas de Chavanette, to Les Crosets on the Col des Portes du Soleil and over to Chatel Les Lindarets.

With a good view of Lake Geneva, Mont Blanc and the Dents du Midi can be seen.

Events

From 1973 to 1993 Avoriaz was in January regularly hosts an international festival of fantastic film. From 24 to March 28, 2007 here the VII European Championship was held in ski mountaineering. 2010 was Avoriaz destination of the eighth stage of the Tour de France, and thus for the 6th time stage town.

Aquariaz

In July 2012, Aquariaz was opened, a 2400 m² water park. One of a kind park offers water sensations in tropical decor.
