Avraham Ravitz

Rawitz Abraham (Hebrew אברהם רביץ, born January 13, 1934 in Tel Aviv, the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine, † January 26, 2009 in Jerusalem) was an Israeli politician and member of the Knesset.

Biography

Rawitz studied at Hebron Rabbinical College, was active in the Lehi organization and then served in the Israel Defense Forces. In 1988 he was first Degel HaTorah for the party elected to the Knesset and 1992 for the United Torah Judaism. Then he sat until his death in 2009 alternately for both factions in the Knesset. Rawitz was on 25 June 1990 to 13 July 1992, Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing, later he was on 16 April 2001 to 28 February 2003 Deputy Minister of Education, then on 30 March 2005 to 4 May 2006 Deputy Minister of Welfare and Social Services. He was married to Avigayil and had 12 children. Rawitz lived until recently in Bayit Vegan in Jerusalem.
