Awn Shawkat Al-Khasawneh

Aun Shawkat al - Chasauneh ( born February 22, 1950 in Amman / Jordan) is a Jordanian lawyer, diplomat and politician. From October 2011 to April 2012 he was Prime Minister of Jordan.

Life

After studying at Cambridge, he joined the diplomatic service in 1975 in Jordan and held various senior positions in diplomacy and legal bodies of Jordan. In 2000 he was elected for a term of nine years a judge of the International Court of Justice in November 2008, his re-election for a second term in February 2009. Between 2006 and 2009 he served as Vice President of the Court.

17 October 2011 it was announced that al - Ma ʿ ruf al - Chasauneh Bachit detaches as head of government. On April 26, 2012 al - Chasauneh resigned.

On February 4, 2013 al - Chasauneh was appointed to a five-member arbitral tribunal in the framework of the Convention. Along with Elsa Kelly, Thomas A. Mensah, Bernard H. Oxman and Bruno Simma, he should decide on a maritime law dispute between Argentina and Ghana.
