Awbere (also Aw Barre, Au Barre; Amharic አውበሬ Awberē ) is a place in the Jijiga Zone of the Somali Region of Ethiopia. It is the capital of the woreda Awbere and is located near the border with northern Somalia / Somaliland at an altitude of around 1550 m.

According to the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia for 2005 Awbere had 35 977 inhabitants. In 1997, of 24,125 inhabitants, 64.72 % and 34.83 % Somali foreigners from Somalia.

From 1991 to 2001, there was near a refugee camp called Teferi Ber. Housed - as well as the warehouse of Derwonaji - mostly members of the Gadabursi Dir clans in northern Somalia, who had fled fighting between the SNM of the Isaaq clans and local militias.
