Azerbaijan Democratic Party

The Azerbaijan Democratic Party ( Azerbaijani Azərbaycan Partiyası Democrat, also an abbreviation used ADP ) is a political party in Azerbaijan.

The ADP formed in 2005 together with the Popular Front of Azerbaijan and the party Müsawat the common choice nonalignment ( Azerbaijani Azadliq ). However, the ADP could not achieve a parliamentary seats in national parliamentary elections in 2005, in contrast to the other two parties.

History

The Azerbaijan Democratic Party, was founded during the times of the Soviet Union, in the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic on January 26, 1991; The founding members were a total of 27 people. On 17 October the same year it was registered by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of Nakhichevan ( Nakhichevan ASSR, today Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic ). Through the national Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice, the party was registered only on 14 March 1993 - after the adoption of a new law on political parties. Later that year, the headquarters of the party was moved to the capital Baku.

Sardar Jalaloglu ADP was elected as party chairman at the first Congress, and remained the only leader of the ADP between 1994-1996. In order to prevent the involvement of ADP in the parliamentary elections, the registration of the party on 1 September 1995 made ​​the Ministry of Justice, reversed on political desire. As a result of five years of intensive and broader struggle, as well as by the pressure of international organizations and the diplomatic corps on the government, the Justice Department had to register the ADP again.
