Babe Stovall

Babe Stovall ( born October 4, 1907 in Tylertown, Mississippi, † September 21, 1974 in New Orleans, Louisiana; actually Jewell Stovall ) was an American blues musician ( singer / guitarist ).

Stovall was born as the youngest of 11 children ( hence his nickname "Babe "). His style of playing guitar, was influenced by Tommy Johnson, whom he had met in 1930 in Mississippi. Mid-1950s, he went to New Orleans, where he held until his death in college students, hippies, tourists, artists and locals on the streets, in cafes and art galleries of the French Quarter.

Some sources indicate that Babe Stovall said to have been the inspiration for the song Mr. Bojangles by Jerry Jeff Walker, who had met Stovall 1968 in New Orleans. Jerry Jeff Walker, however, has called this in his autobiography ' Gypsy Songman ' and in an interview to be incorrect.
