Baboua
Baboua is a provincial town and a local government district ( sub-prefecture ) in the Central African Republic ( CAR), about 550 km north- west of Bangui on the border with Cameroon.
Population
The living population suffers here, as the entire country, under the ever burgeoning clashes between rebel groups and government militias. Earning opportunities are minimal, you live by its own field cultivation ( subsistence farming ).
Facilities
In the village there is a primary school ( Ecole de Primaire Baboua ) as well as a state-owned hospital with a department of obstetrics, pediatrics and surgery. To the Hospital, a pharmacy and a simply equipped laboratory belong.
Other facilities include a theological seminary and center, existing since 1949, the Lutheran Bible School. Lutheran Church ( Eglise de la Republique Evangelique Lutherienne Centrafricaine ), are formed in the pastors and catechists for the nationwide community building. At the Bible school is also a residential area and a kindergarten.
Hospital and Bible School will be several years from the Evangelical-Lutheran. Support mission work in Hermannsburg.
Development aid
In collaboration with the regional health centers sought the hospital to ensure basic health care for around 100,000 people. In addition to the inadequacy prepares the permanent shortage of skilled personnel problems. There is little government support. Salaries are paid only irregularly. The already tense Versorgungssitutation exacerbated by the sporadic arrival of refugee groups in surrounding areas of conflict (Chad, Sudan, Congo ).
Clearing of forests for the production of crops and firewood have led in the 80s and 90s to a drop in the water table. A number of years ago launched reforestation project brought some improvements.
A solar-powered fountain project secures since 1998, the daily water demand.
