Babutsa

Babutsa is a British band with Turkish Cypriot roots. The group was after Opuntia, an American cactus species, which also occurs in Cyprus, named. The band formed from the three soloists Peri Aziz Ali Sönmez and Soner Türsoy. Babutsa sings mainly traditional Turkish Cypriot folk music. The group met on including in Northern Cyprus, United Kingdom, Australia, Turkey and Germany.

The band has the following members:

  • Peri Aziz ( born 1981 in London), Turkish- Cypriot origin.
  • Ali Sönmez ( * 1970 in London), Turkish- Cypriot origin.
  • Soner Türsoy (born 1965 in Famagusta), emigrated to London in 1981.
