History

It originally appeared on Patti Austin's album Every Home Should Have One from 1981. Decoupling as a single took place in the winter of 1982. Even before the official publication reached as a single Baby, Come to Me 1982 number 73 on the Billboard Hot 100

In 1983 the song was the theme song for the soap opera General Hospital in the U.S. broadcaster ABC. ABC received many inquiries about the title, so that the record label Warner Brothers decided to once again bring out the song as a single. The re-release in 1983, reached # 1 in the United States.
