Babymetal

Baby Metal (own spelling BABY METAL) is a Japanese Girl Metal vocal and dance trio.

The managed by the talent agency Amuse band consists of the three female members of Su- Metal, MoaMetal and YuiMetal.

History

The band was first established as a subset of the idol group Sakura Gakuin. The musical concept of the band is a fusion of idol music with metal.

In October 2011 published her first baby Metal Doki Doki Morning DVD single on Jūonbu Records, a sub-label of the record label Toy's Factory.

On 7 March 2012, the band released together with the group Kiba of Akiba their first self-titled indie CD single BABY METAL × Kiba of Akiba. The single reached # 3 on the weekly Oricon indie charts and # 1 of the weekly indie ranking of Tower Records Shibuya.

On July 4, 2012 her first solo CD single was titled Headbangeeeeerrrrr! ! published.

In January 2013, the group had their major label debut with the single Ijime, Dame, Zettai. With 19,000 copies sold in the first week of the single went straight to number 6 on the Oricon charts.

In the spring of 2013 Suzuka Nakamoto (Su - Metal) graduated from middle school and also had to order her degree at the group Sakura Gakuin make. The concept of Sakura Gakuin provides that the members have to leave the group with her graduating from middle school to make room for younger members. This Su- Metal should have been actually leave the subgroup Baby Metal and replaced if necessary. However, it was decided to Baby Metal future as an independent, losgelöstes Sakura Gakuin project to continue. Sakura Gakuin final concert of Baby Metal was on March 31, 2013 at the Tokyo International Forum.

The second major single titled Megitsune was published on 19 June 2013. The single debuted on the weekly Oricon charts at number 7 On February 26, 2014 appeared the first, named after the band, album. It reached # 4 on the weekly Oricon charts and among others, by # 1 in the metal and rock charts of iTunes in the U.S..

Style

The record label the group defined their style as " Kawaii Metal" and declared that it was " a fusion of J- pop idol music and heavy metal ."

" My recipe for success: Short skirts, school girl charm and squeaky voices - just like in the manga comics. But they mix the whole thing with Metal. Slams, breaks and solos are geballert in a pot with squeaky techno tunes. Sounds weird, but is so. "
