Bacchius

The Bacchius (or Bakcheios ) is a trisyllabic metrical foot consisting of a short and two long syllables.

The Bacchian verse that was used especially in the hymns to Bacchus and therefore takes its name, mostly found in akatalektischen Tetra meters, which are intermingled with Dimetern and other shorter verses and then have a iambic or anapestic final verse.
