Geography

Badra is about five kilometers west of the Kyffhäuser at the border with Saxony -Anhalt. The county town Sondershausen is about seven kilometers southwest of Badra. The place is surrounded by the natural park Kyffhaeuser. Due to the location of Badraer stream flows.

History

Badra is first mentioned as a Saxon Pfalzgut Henry the Lion in May 1197 in a document. The place was since 1356 in the possession of the House of Schwarzburg. The Church in Badra was built in 1721. Structures

  • The Protestant parish church of St. alcohol is a Baroque hall church with a south tower. The lower storeys of the tower are from the previous building, the church was rebuilt in 1721. The last renovation of the church took place in 1999.
