Bagadates I

Baydad (also Bagadates I or Bagadat ) was a ruler of Persis, who ruled at the end of the third or the beginning of the 2nd century BC, but its exact date disputed. He is so far only known from its coins that show his head on one side in profile, on the other hand, he is seated on a throne represents or is other coins in front of a fire altar. The inscriptions are in Aramaic. The illustration shows the style is a mixture of Greek and Persian elements and is one of the best works of ancient coinage. He is the first ruler of Persis, which is known from coins. Probably he was a local prince under the Seleucids.
