Baghlan Province

Baglan ( Pashto / Dari: بغلان ) is a province in northern Afghanistan and has about 820,000 inhabitants. The name derives from the village of Baglan. The capital of the province is, however, Pol-e Khomri.

In the province there is a fire temple at Surkh Kotal of Zoroastrianism.

Economy

The experimental cultivation of sugar beet showed that the soils are suitable for cultivation. Hectare yields of 50 to 70 t are expected. With the founding of the New Baghlan Sugar Company Ltd.. to the dependence of farmers to be reduced from traditional farming products. The German seed company KWS SAAT is involved in the investment.

Military presence of the Bundeswehr

Until June 15, 2013, the German armed forces operating within the ISAF mission in the province of the military observation post "Observation Post North ", which was also used by other ISAF troops of different nations. The item is expected to continue to be used by the Afghan armed forces.
