Bagration-Davitishvili

Bagration Davitashvili (Georgian ბაგრატიონ - დავითაშვილი, Russian Багратионы - Давыдовы, Bagration - Davidoff ) is a Georgian princely house. It is a younger branch of the royal dynasty Bagratides.

Their ancestors date back to the kakhetian Prince Dawit, whose uncle as Giorgi II usurped the crown kachetische by, killed the grandfather, Alexander I of Kakheti and then hidden Dawits father. The family Bagration Davitashvili fled into the neighboring Georgian kingdom of Kartli, where they persisted as princely family.

After the annexation of Georgia by the Russian Empire, the family was taken on December 21, 1849 under the name Bagration Davydov (Russian Багратионы - Давыдовы ) in the Russian nobility.
