Bai Chongxi

Bai Chongxi (Chinese白崇禧, Pinyin Bái Chóngxǐ, W.-G. Pai Ch'ung -hsi; style name健 生, Jiansheng; born March 18, 1893 in Lingui county, Guangxi province, † December 1, 1966 in Taipei) was a Chinese military and politicians. Along with Li Zongren he led the Guangxi Amee, which was one of the main supports for the Northern Expedition of the Kuomintang, and in the period from 1922 to 1949 they start a sustained movement against Chiang Kai- shek. During World War II Bai rose to Colonel General, and then he became the first Minister of Defence of the Republic.
