Baileys Irish Cream

Baileys is the colloquial short form for Baileys Original Irish Cream, the brand name of an Irish Cream liqueur from Irish whiskey and cream with an alcohol content of 17 vol - %. Bailey is part of the Diageo Group.

History

An alleged namesake Andrew Bailey of the RA Bailey Company does not exist despite multiple allegations. As the British journalist Alicia Clegg has found, it is a cheating from branding reasons: Its identity is a sham, a colorful Invention cooked up by a multinational drinks group, in a London office overlooking the Bailey Hotel. In November 1974, the product was introduced in the market. The German market followed in 1979. Bailey is responsible for more than 50 percent of all spirits exports from Ireland and with a market share of about 50 percent of the global leaders in the Cream liqueurs. About 200 million liters of milk are used in the production each year. According to the manufacturer the beverage to be inflicted no preservatives, since the alcohol content, the cream adequately preserved.

Adaptations

Several companies offer in their range a product with a taste for Bailey, including Nestle and Unilever (Dublin Mudslide ) in the ice cream business, and Coppenrath & Wiese in the pie segment. Since 2005 Baileys sells in addition to Bailey's original nor the varieties of mint chocolate and crème caramel. After their success in the market 2008 Coffee came about. Since February 2011, the Hazelnut variety is offered. In September 2011, the variety Biscotti was introduced in England. From October 2012 to January 2013 there was a limited variety Orange Truffle. All varieties have a uniform alcohol content of 17 vol - %.
