Baillaud (crater)

89.44

The impact crater Baillaud located near the North Pole of the Moon. Its edge is eroded and as a result of numerous impacts surrounding the crater is now a hilly ridge in the northeast it is partially overlaid by the crater Euctemon, making it bulged to the northwest. In the south of the border is missing completely and the crater is connected there to a lava field.

The interior of the moon crater Baillaud has been flooded by past lava flows, so that its flat surface can be characterized by many small craters in the western half. In it there is the secondary craters Baillaud E.

There is neither a central mountain nor other significant ridges throughout the interior of the moon crater. In the southwestern environment of the crater is the landform Meton. Further east, you meet the lunar crater Petermann.

The shortening of the line of sight to Earth is responsible for ensuring that the lunar craters Baillaud appear elongated.
