Baird is a place and the county seat ( county seat ) of Callahan County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located north of the geographic center of Texas off Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 283, about 230 kilometers west of Dallas and has a total area of 7 square kilometers, of which 0.2 km ² water surface.

History

1880 from the former railway camp of the Texas & Pacific Railway for continuous settlement. It was named on December 14, 1880 by Matthew Baird, the owner and director of the railway company. On January 16, 1883, she was elected to the district capital. On 22 June 1993, the small town of the title Antique Capital of West Texas was awarded.
