Callahan County, Texas

The Callahan County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Baird.

Geography

The County is located east of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of ​​2334 square kilometers, of which 7 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Shackelford County, Eastland County, Brown County, Coleman County, Taylor County and Jones County.

History

Callahan County was formed in 1858 from parts of Bexar County, Bosque County and Travis County. It was named after James Hughes Callahan, a soldier during the Texas Revolution.

Demographic data
