Mills County (Texas)

The Mills County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Goldthwaite.

Geography

The County is located about 60 km north-east of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of ​​1942 square kilometers, of which 5 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Comanche County, Hamilton County, Lampasas County, San Saba County and Brown County.

History

Mills County was formed in 1887 from parts of Brown County, Comanche County, Hamilton County and Lampasas County. It was named for John T. Mills, one of the first judges in Texas.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 5,151 people in Mills County in 2001 households and 1,398 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer.
