Hansford County, Texas

The Hansford County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Spearman. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located north of the geographic center of Texas in the Texas Panhandle, on the border with Oklahoma and has an area of ​​2384 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Texas County, Oklahoma, Ochiltree County, Roberts County, Hutchinson County and Sherman County.

History

Hansford County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County and Young County. It was named after John M. Hansford, a Texas statesman and Congress Member.
